Fresh Produce Program

The Food Bank of Iowa joined with the Newton Correctional Facility, 35 miles east of Des Moines, in early 2012 to start the Fresh Produce Program. Twelve acres of garden were dedicated to growing produce for our organization and our partner agencies. As a result of the project, more than 100,000 pounds of fresh produce were harvested. We look forward to continuing and literally growing
this partnership!
