Food Bank of Iowa’s mission has been important to Mike Kamper for a while. He and his wife had contributed financially for years, but with more free time, he decided to get hands-on. Mike has now been volunteering at the Food Bank of Iowa for over two years.

“You know, I grew up with a stay-at-home mom, middle class family,” he said. “We never went to bed hungry. We never went to school hungry. And nowadays, you can’t say that for a lot of people. So food inequity has always been kind of in the back of my mind.”

With flexible shifts and no special skills needed, Mike encourages others to get involved. “Just do it,” he said. “It’s rewarding.”
