Volunteer Spotlight: Maggie Lambi
Maggie Lambi has been volunteering at Food Bank of Iowa for about two years, continuing work she began before moving to the state.
“I moved here to Iowa two years ago. I was volunteering at a food bank in Kansas City and loved it so much that I wanted to continue,” she said. “I’ve always had a concern for those that are food inadequate or food poor… so it’s been my mission to help feed those that are hungry.”
Maggie said volunteering has brought meaningful connections. “I’ve made so many great friends, met so many wonderful people here,” she said. “I look forward to seeing [them] here every week.”
She credited the volunteer coordinators for creating a welcoming, supportive environment. “Just Rob and Teddy… the way they treat their volunteers, it’s precious,” she said.
Maggie’s message to others is simple: “You can’t go wrong. It is such a wonderful place to volunteer. Just give it a try. You’ll like it.”
