Ashley’s heartfelt ‘thank you’

Setting a good example for her two children is Ashley’s top priority. Most recently, the lesson she’s taught is always keep trying.
“You do what you can, because they see you fighting…and what’s important is you’re not giving up,” she says.
Ashley is the sole provider for her family. She’s working part-time while also searching for a job with flexible hours. That means a busy schedule and a budget that’s often too tight to afford healthy food.
“We were in this circumstance where I had $20 to my name,” she explains.
Ashley is grateful for your help as she searches for a better job. Her children have dietary restrictions, including dairy and acidic foods, so the variety of foods at Grimes Storehouse, her local Food Bank of Iowa partner pantry, are a lifeline.
“[At] the Grimes Storehouse they are so welcoming to everyone,” she shares.
With ingredients from the pantry, Ashley makes wholesome meals like veggie lasagna to fuel her children in a new school year.
“Thank you. It’s really needed,” she says.
Ashley says she hopes to donate food or funds in the future.
“I’m hoping that we can also give back and keep it moving forward for everybody else!”
