Amerigroup Donates $10,000 to Food Bank of Iowa to Assist During COVID-19
Food Bank of Iowa announced today a $10,000 donation from Amerigroup to assist with feeding food insecure Iowans during the coronavirus pandemic, which has created more populations in need of additional support during this unprecedented situation.
Amerigroup’s contribution is made in collaboration with those on the frontlines of the crisis to ensure rapid response and to adapt based on the evolving needs of communities across Iowa.
“The problem of food insecurity doesn’t go away during this time of social distancing, and organizations like Food Bank of Iowa become more critical than ever,” said Jeffrey Jones, president of Amerigroup. “Amerigroup is committed to Iowa communities, especially in these times of uncertainty, and we’re pleased to support Food Bank of Iowa as they continue working to meet the needs of Iowans.”
Amerigroup’s gift has been designated to COVID-19 relief efforts. According to Food Bank of Iowa, for every $1 the nonprofit receives, it can feed up to four people. With this donation, about 40,000 meals will be provided to food insecure Iowans.
“We are so grateful to be a part of Amerigroup’s focus on food insecurity during this challenging time,” said Michelle Book, president and CEO, Food Bank of Iowa. “In this time of crisis, we have had to make some adjustments to how we distribute food. Support like this gives us the flexibility required to meet the rapidly changing need in our communities.”
