Making Our Community a Better Place, One Grant at a Time
Food Bank of Iowa is lucky to be a grant recipient of the Story County Community Foundation’s Community Grant. Their support will help our school-based pantries in Story County and provide 7,200 pounds of food to families in need.
We are thankful for their generous support of our organization – and especially of our partner organizations. Story County Community Foundation allows our partnerships to flourish and grow – and in our case, to help feed more people. While at their Grant Awards Reception, we heard from Cari with Salvation Army – Ames and Story County.
Cari and Salvation Army (Ames and Story County) are a partner organization of Food Bank of Iowa. They pick up retail donations and food rescue throughout the county. Cari shared how a Major Grant from Story County Community allowed them to purchase a brand-new refrigerated van.
With this new van, Salvation Army was able to increase pounds of food they picked up, and more importantly, increase the amount of food given to people in need. This generosity and hard work of our partner organizations and donors help us work towards our mission, and ultimately makes our community a better place.
