Philanthropy is based on voluntary action to benefit the common good.  It is a tradition of giving and sharing which is primary to the quality of life for both the benefactor and those who stand to benefit. To assure the Food Bank of Iowa philanthropy program merits the respect and trust of the general public, and donors and prospective donors have a full confidence in Food Bank of Iowa, we declare all Food Bank of Iowa donors will be treated accordingly:

  1. Donors will be informed of Food Bank of Iowa’s mission, and the way the organization intends to use donated resources, and its capacity to use donations effectively.
  2. Donors will be informed of the identity of those serving on Food Bank of Iowa’s governing board, and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities.
  3. Donors will have access to the organization’s most recent audited financial statements.
  4. Donors’ gifts will be used for the purpose for which they were intended and information about their donations will be handled with respect and confidentiality.
  5. Food Bank of Iowa will not share, sell, or trade their mailing list or donor information with anyone outside the organization.
  6. Donors may expect their relationship with Food Bank of Iowa will be professional in nature.
  7. Donors will receive acknowledgement of donations in a timely manner, including gratitude and tax receipt information.
  8. Donors will receive prompt, truthful and forthright answers in response to inquiries made regarding their donation.
