Why a Thank-a-Thon?
During the month of September 2019, Food Bank of Iowa hosted our first-ever Thank-a-Thon. What exactly is a Thank-a-Thon? It’s much like a telethon, minus the lights, cameras, live television, and corny jokes (maybe).
Instead of calling people to make donations we called donors simply to thank them. Members from the Food Bank of Iowa’s Board of Directors and Philanthropy Committee called hundreds of donors to say “Thank you!” and “We appreciate you!”
While it’s important to thank donors every single day, we believe donors deserve an extra dose every now and then. We know it’s easy to get caught in the busy-ness of life and stuck in a routine. Sometimes, meaningful yet simple gestures such as a phone call go by the wayside. We hope to change that.
As Ken Clary, FBOI Board Member and Philanthropy Committee Chair, says, “A quick phone call to tell someone that they’re appreciated can turn a bad day around, or make a good day even better.”
We cannot help feed 175,000 hungry Iowans without the support of our donors. Their support is truly appreciated every day at the Food Bank of Iowa. Whether $1 or $100 – every dollar makes a difference.
To anyone who has ever given to our organization – we say THANK YOU!
