Food Bank of Iowa and Prairie Meadows team up to Fight Childhood Hunger
We are excited to announce that the Food Bank of Iowa has received a grant of $15,000 from Prairie Meadows to address childhood hunger through our BackPack ProgramTM.
In the state of Iowa, one in six children face hunger. This grant from Prairie Meadows will allow us to better serve the 56,350 children in our service area who currently lack reliable access to food they need to thrive.
The BackPack ProgramTM provides a sack of kid-friendly, nutritionally balanced food to children every Friday during the school year. This allows them to have access to meals over the weekend so they can return to school on Monday ready to learn.

To date, Prairie Meadows has given $1.8 billion to the state of Iowa, with more than $804 million remaining here in Polk County.
