Since 2020, Jackie Myers has been a dedicated volunteer with Food Bank of Iowa. What started as a way to break the isolation of the pandemic quickly became a weekly commitment—and a meaningful one.

“I was just looking for a social opportunity,” Jackie said. “I didn’t come with anyone, but now I’ve got friends here and a great Wednesday evening crew.”

For Jackie, volunteering is about more than just filling a time slot. It’s about taking action on something she believes deeply: that no one should go hungry.

“There’s plenty of food out there,” she said. “We just need to get it in the right hands.”
