Juan Gomez 1

Juan moved his entire family to Iowa for the promise of a new job. When that promise wasn’t met, friends like you stepped up to make sure his family has enough food on the table — and a supportive community.

“I think you guys have a really good thing that you do – everything for the people who really need it,” he says of Food Bank of Iowa supporters.

Juan and his wife have three children — a daughter (6) and son (12) at home, as well as a 20-year-old daughter attending college in Maine. Juan’s wife now works at Walmart, and Juan found a part-time job with the U.S. Postal Service.

Juan likes his job but needs full-time hours, so he continues to look for more work. In the meantime, he’s thankful for support from a Food Bank of Iowa partner pantry where he can pick up nutritious food for his family.

“I’m happy there’s a place like this,” he says.

This holiday season, your generosity is truly a lifeline for so many hardworking Iowans. Thank you for making this a healthier, happier season for all.
