DES MOINES, IOWA (April 24, 2024) — Grand View University has announced Food Bank of Iowa CEO Michelle Book will give the 2024 address at its commencement ceremony May 6. The event will be held at Wells Fargo Arena.

Book has led the food bank since 2016. With a focus on culture, collaboration and community, she has transformed Food Bank of Iowa from once underperforming to being recognized as a Feeding America food bank of excellence with the Network Celebration Award in 2022 and the Living Our Values award in 2023.

Prior to joining Food Bank of Iowa, Book served in global business roles with DuPont Pioneer and John Deere Finance.

Book earned a bachelor of business administration degree with an emphasis in accounting from Iowa State University. She has been recognized by the Des Moines Business Record as a Woman of Influence, a “leader to know,” and among the metro’s top 25 Most Influential Business Leaders. In 2019, she was an Iowa State University Alumni Lifetime Achievement Awardee.

Book serves on the Nationwide Insurance Board Council, the Kennedy Center National Performing Arts Council and the U.S. Bank Midwest Region Advisory Council.
