You’re making holidays brighter
Kaitlyn was raised with a strong connection to the land and the food produced on it, having worked on neighbors’ farms as a child and even starting to cook at just 10 years old. Today, that connection remains strong.
In fact, Kaitlyn and her husband dream of having a farm and creating a more sustainable lifestyle for themselves and their daughter, 3-year-old Charlotte. Kaitlyn says her family is already making strides toward this goal.
“In the back, we have a small garden that has two separate mounds of cucumbers and then a couple different tomato plants,” she says.
Kaitlyn’s husband recently started a new job that seems to be a positive step for the whole family and will hopefully help them reach their homesteading dreams, but the transition has been difficult for the family’s finances.
That’s why Kaitlyn is grateful she can visit a Food Bank of Iowa partner to supplement healthy food for her family.
“It’s a huge weight off my shoulders to be able to have food in the house…and being able to get caught up on our bills because we’re not having to put all that extra money toward food,” she says.
This holiday season, hardworking families like Kaitlyn’s are giving thanks for your partnership. Thank you for being a beacon of hope for so many Iowans!
