Alliant Energy donated $75,000 to the Food Bank of Iowa in late December. The donation will provide about 300,000 meals for Iowa children, families, and seniors struggling with food insecurity.

Alliant Energy’s annual “Drive Out Hunger Golf Classic” event raised more than $400,000 to benefit food banks serving those struggling with hunger in Alliant Energy’s service territory. The event, which took place in Wisconsin Dells, WI, on Sept. 14, 2016, celebrated its 10th anniversary this year.

“Alliant Energy is pleased to sponsor this annual event, and we thank our business partners for their generous support to help us Drive Out Hunger,” said Patricia Kampling, Chairman, President and CEO of Alliant Energy (LNT). “Since its inception in 2007, the Drive Out Hunger Golf Classic has raised more than $2.5 million and provided more than 10.5 million meals. We put our efforts into raising funds that improve the lives of those facing food insecurity within the communities we serve. We support the work done by food banks throughout our service territory in assisting those in need.”

Alliant Energy partners with Food Bank of Iowa and its sister Feeding America food banks whose service areas overlap where Alliant Energy provides service. Other benefiting food banks include Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, Food Bank for the Heartland (Western Iowa and Nebraska), Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin, HACAP Food Reservoir (Eastern Iowa), Northeast Iowa Food Bank and River Bend Foodbank (Quad Cities area).

“We are absolutely thrilled to receive such generous support from Alliant Energy,” said Michelle Book, President and CEO of Food Bank of Iowa. “Alliant Energy has been a stalwart partner in our fight against hunger, providing millions of meals to serve Iowans in need and others struggling with hunger in the Upper Midwest.”
