Tony’s priorities as a father and grandfather are clear — provide for his family and spend quality time with them. Thanks to friends like you, he’s able to meet his goals.

Tony has two daughters living with him, ages 14 and 15. He also has two grown daughters and five grandsons he loves to spend time with.

Three years ago, Tony was in a life-threatening motorcycle accident. Thankfully, he survived, but was not able to return to work in floor covering and construction, so he’s relied on Social Security disability since then.

“As long as I can supply a house and food for my kids and get them through school, that’s what’s important,” Tony says.

In addition to disability benefits, Tony receives limited SNAP assistance, but he says the family wouldn’t have as much healthy food on the table if it weren’t for your generosity. That’s because Tony visits the Pella Community Food Shelf, a Food Bank of Iowa partner, to pick up needed groceries.

“A lot of people are going without. I’m thankful for the position I’m in and able to come here and get the help I receive,” he says. “It’s a blessing.”

Thank you for partnering with the Food Bank today to help Iowans who are facing hunger this fall.
